Peony Clusters - SOLD

With thoughts of Spring and actually having to get out in the courtyard to 'help' the plants renew by cutting back the old, I wanted to get a gorgeous Peony in.  Before opening up into an explosion of soft pastels, they are very pressed buds.

My grandmother loved them as well and had them lining a path to our door when I was growing up.  One day I noticed that black ants were all over the buds and asked her about it - oh the kids and the why questions...  Learned yet again another remarkable thing.  The ants help the buds to open.  Who knew?

  1. Peonies are my very favorite flower, but they are SO hard to paint! You've done a gorgeous job here! I really like the thickly painted areas of light on the petals. Just beautiful!
