Urban Innocence - SOLD

This painting came about through a friend who is also a very gifted photographer during her stay in Paris.  Her name is Claudia Ward.  Her blog Open Window has some of her photography and some wonderful recipes as well.  Those culinary classes she took in Paris have obviously paid off as I have duplicated some of them myself - yum.

She was kind enough to allow me to render this very tender scene AND help me with the title as I was at a loss for this one.  I attempted to express, concrete vs softness, harshness of the city vs childlike sharing love, etc.  The title was important to me and magically appeared with a list of ideas from Claudia.  She suggested I choose the words she offered in an email.  Urban  and Innocence were 'exactly' what I wanted to convey with this painting.

Strawberry Harvest - NFS

Driving around the Ventura/Oxnard area you will see strawberry fields on both sides of the road.  It's a very agricultural area and to my pleasure affords me many booths of fresh produce to purchase on the way home.  There's nothing like getting it right off the farm so to speak.  This painting isn't for sale, not just because it strikes a sentimental cord and reminds me of a fantastic weekend with my honey, but I also love the colors, workers, sky, background, foreground.  It all fell into place and I love when that happens.  Hoping you enjoy it as well!

Sunning - SOLD

A cuite pie sunning herself in the garden window.  As we all know cats love to sun themselves.  I guess we all do right.  I was after more of a painterly sketchy look with this piece.  She certainly has the right idea.  I hoped to capture the 'feeling'.  Very pleased with herself, so relaxed.  What a great spot to get away from everything, including mischievous brothers. Her very own special 'secret garden'.

Storybook Flowers - SOLD

The idea of flowers right now is due to a Spring Celebration at a local gallery AND a trip planned to hit Death Valley which I believe will be splendiferous and quite amazing.  Hoping that the dates we have planned are exactly right for the plethera of carpeted coverage I hope to see.  With that said, I couldn't wait any longer and just went for it with this piece.  When I was almost finished, I thought "these look like flowers you see in a child's storybook."  Fantasia like - thus the name.  I like everything about this work and with my critical eye, that doesn't always come easy.  Oh, I just heard birds singing!
