'Ice Sailing" - SOLD

Photo compliments of Claudia Ward Photography.

Just thinking about how much energy goes into one of these intense sport events is enough to make one run for a gallon of water and stretch those tired muscles.  In the zone after the swim and blurring out from intense speeds, these bicyclists are now going to have to run.  Yikes...   Phew, think I'll go rest now.

"Early Morning Light" - SOLD

This was a prime spot for early morning light and views of the LA skyline.  I loved how the houses were nestled in amongst the trees.

Challenging myself to depict a vast amount of information in such a small format (6 x 8).  Have to say that I wanted to keep it as loose as I could and wore a path in the floor from walking back and forth while painting.  I kept thinking about putting a taller building in the background, but didn't want to draw that much attention back there as the houses, not the skyscrapers were my intentional focal point.

"Beets" - SOLD

First, what can I say, I tried repeatedly to get the 'best' photo  regarding the color red as possible.  This was the most desirable of them all.  It will read differently on different monitors as well. My apologies.  Photo compliments of Food 52 and James Ransom, photographer.

Beets...  What a veggie.  I have always disliked them immensely.  That is until I found out what amazing little wonders they are.  My husband loves them so when he would eat them, I would eat one or two and that is how I develop a taste for something I dislike until 'voila', I like them.  And lookout - I found yellow!  What??!!!  Loving veggies as I do, I was quite astonished that I didn't know they existed.

Whole Foods serves them in their buffet area - yay.  Yummy sweet delectable yellow beets.  Every time I bite into one in my salad they cry out with individuality.  There's so much goodness, I thought I'd share some of the info regarding this little powerhouse with a link here.  I hope you give them a go a little at a time if you don't like them and hope that you too, develop a taste for the little wonders.

'Living Waters'

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

The inspiration for this abstract was created while sitting in front of my sister-in-laws lily pond.  A little stream of trickling water into the pond itself, with dragon flies, flowers galore, lilies, gentle breezes, reflections...  You almost become comatose sitting there.

"Three Little Pears" - SOLD

We're coming up on apple and pear season shortly.  I've already started to delve into recipes.  So in honor of the wonderfully delicious concoctions that shall spring forth, I thought I would honor the humble pear.  Bon appetit!

"Leaps of Joy" - SOLD

COMMISSION

This piece is commissioned by Jenny Maginnes whom I have had the great pleasure of painting for a few years ago.  She also graciously allowed me the courtesy of using a photo I loved the minute I saw it, even named it straightaway, of the girls fishing, "Fisher Girls".

Jenny tells me she was able to  quickly capture this shot of the girls leaping off of the lifeguard stand which apparently is unique to their North Carolina beach and it became an integral part of the painting.  Talk about being in the right place at the right time to capture this rare mid-air shot.  Remarkable!

'Koi' - SOLD

FRAMED, ready to hang art.

There's something about water! Whether a water feature, a lily pond, a stream, a lake, the ocean, even a small fountain is so soothing and relaxing. It's an excellent place to go into what I like to call 'a no-mind state'. Love to go to that place when I'm painting. Everyone has a different name for it of course. Attempts to quiet our minds is not easy task to attain these days. Here's wishing this sweet little Koi peaking out from the pond helps refresh you!

'Pt. Loma Lighthouse' - SOLD

Cabrillo National Monument and Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego is an incredible place to visit. There are the most amazing tide pools, which even the children, seem to respect.  After all, what curious little one doesn't appreciate awesome sea creatures...

The colors are phenomenal when the sun highlights the prisms on the marine life found there.  Just be sure to check the tide schedule so you don't miss out!  We also bring little picnic lunches and sit on a bench overlooking it.  Now that's what I call living the good life!

"Beached" - SOLD

This loose little painting was rendered Plein Air on the beach. The plein air equipment was schlepped along on a cart that becomes a table.  The tires on this make it so much easier to get across the sand.  Took me sometime finding this perfect transport for hauling all the gear, food, drink, umbrella, chair, etc, but was well worth the effort.  The little back-pack holds a very small Open Box M pochade with brushes, paints etc. Easy to back-pack with walking or on a bicycle which I have done many times with this little one as well.  Also bought some really great zippered pouches from REI.  Love them!

I have another regular sized set-up that's larger.  James Coulter's system "Art Box and Panel".  Here's a link to the very first plein air painting I did with this set-up, "Side by Side".  It seems I bought mine around the same time  or right after Carol Marine and Jennifer McChristian did unbeknownst to me.  You can see them using it on the links James has set-up on his site.  That proved to be a confirmation that I did my homework and selected great equipment.  I personally think James put a lot of thought into this as it's pretty darn easy to set-up.

I prefer standing when painting outdoors, but having the ability to hang out as long as I wanted sitting without having to leave for any reason other than nature - well what can I say, it was a very very good day!

"Seagulls Flight"

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

An abstracted expressionistic view of seagulls in flight.

Btw, for whatever reason, the colors in blogger seem to be more saturated with this oil painting.  If you're interested in seeing it's true colors, please go to Etsy.  Thanks much!

"Beach Ballet" - SOLD

My daughter took one look at this painting and said, "She looks like she's in a ballet en pointe position." I had to agree and thus the name, 'Beach Ballet'.

"Great Expectations" - SOLD

My husband and I were walking on the beach after dinner one evening.  I saw this woman standing there just taking it all in.  She had assumed the frequently seen position of a pregnant woman near the end of her term.  Not only expecting, but one could notice she wondered what to expect as the time was drawing closer.  I'm betting they were 'great expectations'.

Abstracted Olives

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

There are olive trees galore in California.  The weather here seems to be a perfect climate for them mimicking their Mediterranean homeland.  Whenever at a local farmers market, you will be sure to see a plethora of olive oils to sample.  Picking one however, is not an easy task.  Thank goodness we can keep coming back and try them all until we find our happy flavor.  Wired to hang both Horizontally AND Vertically!

"Sandals" - SOLD

Sandals, they've gotta lotta sole! I LIVE in them year in and year out. They're my slippers, my friends, my easy to carry on a walk to the beach accessory. Even if you wanted to change your sandals into 'real' shoes before going out and oops forgot, they'd still be an acceptable mode of travel. Ya have to love that... May we all have many happy walks on the beach with our fashionable co-conspirators.

"De Arbol Chilles" - SOLD

This hotty comes with compliments of a fabulous website for foodies called Provisions by Food 52 and James Ransom, photographer.  So many of us 'like it hot'.  Although it did take me a while to build up to the heat, once I was there I was hooked and now there's no going back.  Phew!

"Tiffany Leaves"

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

Tiffany colored leaves surround this delicate bouquet of flowers with a soft, subtle hue. The textures and colors are so much softer in person.  This versatile piece of original abstract art would look perfect anywhere you chose to exhibit it.

"Crystal Cascade"

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

Resembling 'Beach Glass', but not the normal range of beachy colors.  All intermingling and doing their own melding and melting into one another as they fell into a pile finally settling on the bottom.

"Good Vibrations"

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

About the title - the colors vibrate off each other so I looked up the lyrics from the Beach Boys song which seemed to apply. I changed the words and came up with this:

I love the colorful garb they wear
And the way the sunlight plays upon the pears
I hear the sound of a gentle word (yum-m-m-m-m)
On the wind that lifts her fruitiness through the air
Where would we be without humor.

Hoping this brings a smile to your day!

"Lakeside" - SOLD

This little abstract is so full of Spring wishes that it bursts with subtle exuberance.  It's softer in person.  ALL paintings, no matter the subject, look way better up close and personal.  To those who are still battling the elements, here's hoping your Spring comes soon!

'Beach Glass' - SOLD

I love beach glass.  I like others of my kind find endless hours of time lost wandering the shores.  My proximity to the beach is a real plus.  I must again say 'yay' to that as I am one grateful cookie!  So hats off to the beach and the bits that are transformed into inspiration.

'Raising Champions'

Buy it at AndolsekArt on Etsy!

Large original oil...  24 x 24 x 1.5, gallery wrap painted sides.
Photo complements of Claudia Ward Photography

I have painted horses on and off for some time now.  It's been awhile however since I've painted an true equestrian.  The very last one was a commission of a 'young' girl that I thought just might become quite serious regarding this arena.  So I thought with Spring just around the corner and horse shows gearing up, now would be a good time to have at it.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" - SOLD

Oxnard and Ventura are known for fields of strawberries and tons of other fabulous fruits and veggies.  Lots of little road side markets are set-up all over and make an easy snack for travelers.  Grateful to have them!

"Nautilus"

This painting consists of OIL paint, not acrylic.

It has a rich patina. There are layers and layers and layers of various pigments which peek through here and there keeping the mystery alive. Be warned: Various quadrants throughout this piece of artwork can make you linger over them and sigh. 24" x 24" x 1", oil on gallery wrap with painted sides eliminating the need for framing.  Thanks for taking a look!

"Tulips" - SOLD

Tulips and Poppies are some of my favorite flowers.  I think it's because of their elegant simplicity.  I say some because each species has their own amazement.  And each one has sooooo much going on regarding variety.  Variety within the varieties.  Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into. ~ Henry Beecher

"Heading to Surfers Point" - SOLD

My aim here was to allow the viewer to feel as if walking behind the surfers.  Surfers Point is a local favorite around here.  Here being Ventura, CA.  Lots of folks of all ages head there to play.  Some seriously...  Some not so much...  Either way, in or out of the surf, great energy from just being there!

"Dressed in Poppies" - SOLD

This painting certainly reminds me, a Francophile, of the gorgeous countryside of France.  The poppies bring lots of sighs and smiles as well. A pleasant view for sure!

"Pastelled Pears" - SOLD

I feel the colors in this painting to be so relaxing. Soft harmonies playing off each other like good friends. A sweet little gem...

"Sammich" - SOLD

I was looking for healthier fare to take the place of tuna salad and found PostPunkKitchen through my daughter's efforts to assist with vegetarian recipes.  This is a Chickpea Salad Sammich (aka sandwich).  I put in a link in case anyone would like to give it a go.  I really liked all of the layers and colors.  Asked if I might render it and received a yes and so I did.  I used her title as well, kind of  cute.  Thanks Sherri and Isa!

A simple bouquet... Picked from nature.  Received from a child.  Transparent love!
