Mille Pardons Ma Cherie - SOLD

The English translation for the title is, "A Thousand Pardons My Darling".  They are in Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, where as we can see our femme fatale is having no part of his excuses. Let's use our imagination with this rendezvous and determine our own version of the story.

Backlit Grapes - SOLD

Keeping the words brief as I have a very busy day ahead.

With a commission for grapes, I thought long and hard about who it was for (European flavor), where it was going to go (by a very large window overlooking shade structure & plants), the other artwork surrounding it (fruit subjects).  This person has a special place in my heart so I was eager not to dissappoint. I'm happy to report that the client loved it!  Carpe diem!

Luxembourg Morning - SOLD

My friend Claudia who travels frequently, allows me to use her brilliant photography because quite frankly, I've only had the opportunity to turn around via Switzerland and France.  Well, at least I can say I've been to France.  Although I loved my visit to Germany, Switzerland and Austria, ah Paris.  Someday!  Really!

In the meantime however, I very much appreciate Claudia's eye and her heart as this is what has attracted me to her work.  We women are an emotional lot at times.  You can visit her blog "Open Window" to see her fantastic photography.  But I'd better warn you now, she's also a great cook/baker.  With that said, she does share her very flavorful recipes as well.

Fly Away Kite

I guess it's quite apparent that I need a water fix.  It's been quite awhile since I've been to a beach.  So if I can't get to the beach, the beach can come to me.  Soon!

As for the title, you've heard of a run away car, etc.  Well this kite was flying so high, that it wasn't even in the shot.  Thus Fly Away Kite.

$59.00 + shipping/handling fee of $7.00, 5 x 7, oil on linen panel.

Time for Lunch - SOLD

This piece was sold a bit ago.  But every once in awhile, I look back at my work.  Think about why one piece over another will continue to pull that really 'got' me reasoning out of it.  It kept in line with my concept for the piece.  It wasn't overworked.  It was a painterly piece with texture.

This was yet another excursion to Balboa Park in San Diego.  My husband and I had a picnic on the lawns which is perfectly acceptable with all concerned.  Afterwards, we wandered about further.  I spotted this scene of others enjoying a leisurely lunch and snapped a quick photo.  In painting it, I really liked how the umbrellas were working.  I especially loved keeping the woman heading inside the cafe softer and blurred.  I also liked this type of scene.  People out and about enjoying the day.  I was very pleased with the outcome of this painting in general.

Bird on a Branch - SOLD

I guess you could say that this post is 'for the birds'.  Spring has sprung.  They are very hard at work on nests for the expected new arrivals.  Singing is filling the air with their songs and with this said, I leave you with words better quoted by one of my favorite poets.

i thank you God for most this amazing by E. E. Cummings

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
wich is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
