Drawing in the Sand - SOLD

I love painting children doing things that all children do like drawing in the sand.  Sploring I like to say, I still do it as I see so many things that just fascinate me when I'm outdoors.  My two girls are like that as well.  You'll hear wow a lot when we're together or we'll share photographs and say wow then as well cause really there are no words...  We transgress to our real selves out there.

Drawing in the Sand is loose and expressionistic.  I 'made' myself consider each brush stroke so that I didn't overwork it.  I'm pleased with the outcome and hope to continue in this manner although I think each work sometimes dictates the end itself.

What's Good Here

A couple of old friends catching up at an outdoor cafe...  Is that a beer?  And wine?  Well why not.  They've got the whole afternoon and a ride as well.  Let's follow the ladies lead and kick back this fine summer day and enjoy the weekend.  Hope yours is a sunny one!

All Tied Up - SOLD

Visiting the Northern parts of California during our trip, we happened upon a cozy little town that seemed very boatish for lack of a better description.  They were all tied up/moored.  It was a weekend so no doubt they would be getting a workout as soon as the rest of the town woke up.  We arrived very early to see lots of setting up of tents.  The rain wasn't going to deter this weekend's fun from happening.

The area reminded me a bit of the Rhode Island, upstate New York boating areas.  We enjoyed the atmosphere here, both literally and figuratively as we had just come from the high desert sierras and the mists and water were a very pleasant change for us.

Garden Door - SOLD

The Secret Garden is one of my all time favorite stories.  I am definitely a romantic and gardens hail romance, fascination, splendor (I could go one) since the beginning in the Garden of Eden.  For gardeners and beholders alike, it holds great repose.  Every sense seems heightened in one.  Monet built one of the most beautiful so that he might always have it to paint right to the end.  His famous murals still arouse awe.  Going to head out into mine now and consider my surroundings before going into my studio for yet another wonderful day of paint.  To all of you passionate gardeners out there, thanks!

In the Vineyard - SOLD

I personally LOVE everything about this painting.  Catching the soft early morning light, the sweet smells of dew on the earth, that glad to be alive 'feeling', work giving that accomplished satisfaciton kind of thing at the end of the day, like I got a lot done today...  and of course, let's not forget having a glass of that very fine wine from your own vineyard.  God is great!  Life is good!

Urban Dweller - SOLD

I'm one of those gals who just love to go to the city and sit around outdoor cafes.  I also think all food tastes better outdoors.  It's fun watching people stoll by, people watching is a favorite sport of mine.  It's especially fun if you've been walking all day and the right table at the right cafe with that perfect glass of wine happens.  Treasure the moments!!!

Making Good Time - SOLD

I had a difficult time coming up with a name for this piece.  I was really interested in capturing the determination of this woman running.  Then it just became more and more clear that she was trying not to necessarily beat her competitors, but to gain even more minutes on 'her' last time.  Competing with herself...  She wins!

Heading for the Gym - SOLD

On her way to the gym, obviously it's her passion as you can tell by not only her attire, but by her confident stride which gives her away.  Lean, healthy - I want it, but guess not THAT much cause 'I'd rather be painting' as they say.  But with that said, and after eating abundant amounts of great (bad for you) food, I do have to at least think about it - tomorrow (just call me Scarlet).
