I had a difficult time coming up with a name for this piece. I was really interested in capturing the determination of this woman running. Then it just became more and more clear that she was trying not to necessarily beat her competitors, but to gain even more minutes on 'her' last time. Competing with herself... She wins!
I have a friend who's a triathlete, and you got it just right Barbara... these driven, powerful, talented people do indeed compete with themselves. Most are not out there to beat anyone's time... but their own. The focused and straight forward, almost inward look, of this woman is right on. I like this painting... it makes me want to beat my own whompin treadmill time. ha!
