A fun painting. Umbrellas obviously on the mind since it's FINALLY raining here in the high desert of the Sierras. We still need more please. I cannot wait to see all of the glorious colorful wildflowers that will be springing up all over the place. Will have to hike out with my smallest palm pochade and do a quick study or two when that happens. Even the air will smell sweet. Oh but I digress. I really love the color palette in this one and the feeling I get when I see it, not only the composition, but well - can't help it, the colors. The longer I live the more I love color.
Oh Barbara I love this! All that yummy juicy texture on the background, the loose strokes on the curtain, the cool drainpipe offset by the warm colors of the scene, and carefully placed details on the umbrella really makes this a stand-out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind remarks Sheila. I just found your art for the animals link. I love the little kittens I renedered on the bottom of my blog - "Sitting Pretty" and "Kitty Adventures" so much that I just couldn't sell them. They hang on my wall in the hall, love looking at them. Love those animals... thanks from all animal lovers for the blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you B. the color palette is wonderful! and I also like the offset gray pipe dividing the two backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, Once again the color and texture for the subject matter are perfect in my opinion. I could look at this painting for a very long while. I'm so glad I found your site! I hate being self-serving, but if you have a moment stop by http://open-window.typepad.com, would love to share with you our perspectives. Stay warm. Claudia
ReplyDeleteGreat use of Reds! Love those quick brush strokes and the yummy texture on the wall.
